Subiesport Magazine swaps a turbo in its 2007 Legacy GT project car. Includes some great tips for anyone doing this popular upgrade.

im a ex subaru tech pretty much how it’s done don’t know about the filling up the coolant system though need to pressure test it first lol
What’s wrong with this dudes voice? Super!
does anyone have an actual step by step video or other intructions, becasue this is not detailed enough. i want to know how to change my my08 wrx turbo which is the same engine as this GT i believe
Have to mention that the proper way to test a cooling system for leaks is when it’s under pressure. Instead of filling it back up, you use a radiator adaptor, shop air and a regulator to pressurize the system to spec psi. Water/soap solution on any of the parts of the system you opened. If you just fill it up, the system isn’t pressurized because you can’t run the car.
do you have to reset ecu after the turbo change?
how much more horsepower does this turbo add?
haha its funny how many people are trying to critique this professional on how to swap a subaru turbo. Let me say this, show some proof before you start mouthing off about how much you know.
i totaly agree with you sir they all talk shite respect m8
its not an intercooler its the air induction for the turbo
No fender covers niceee
i think that car looks like a heap of shit .. but what ever .
is it just me or does that look a little cheep the turbo that is
Another batch of ignorant comments by kids with crap hondas that don’t know shit about forced induction. Before you run your mouth, learn a little about who Sean is, who he works for, and what they do. All you morons critiqing TMIC’s need to go educate yourself before you regurgitate whatever garbage you’ve read in your ricer mags.
heres an example of what i ment. I got a stock turbo on my truck, i put on a turbonetics ball bearing in it. I got way more boost but its the same size.
you can do that with any turbo… its called a boost controller and a waste gate….
i fucking love this guy.
lol everyones all, “well i think it works best here, or there” negating that its a rally car, they just see it as the only car they can redline it and dump the clutch in and they go fast… hahahaha
The intercooler is on top because this this type of setup is from rally racing, they can run into things and not damage the intercooler.
i agree with u to an extent. I mean palin it there does have a couple of advantages such as, not blocking the radiator by bein a front mount and having less intercooler piping which helps with the spool up of the turbo
Yea, making a top-mounted intercooler was really stupid, that’s what i said when I saw it.
I still think it is stupid to place a fricken intercooler on top of an engine block. would make much more sense to place it lower.. since heat doesnt sink, man other systems either place it infront of the car behind the bumper or off to one side of the bumper. Say what you guys want.. its just the way I think.
I don’t think so…
Because the WRX has a hood spoiler to bring the air on top of the engine. ; )
probably only did it for the video and to say they did…you heard the guy, it was already swapped out once b4
