New Outback! Subaru Legacy and Outback @ 2009 NYAS

InsideLineVideo asked:

MORE 2009 NEW YORK AUTO SHOW @ INSIDELINE.COM: www.edmunds.com Well, for starters they’ve got that Bloomin’ Onion thing, all soaked in batter and lounging in oil. That’s off of the Aussie-Tizers menu, mate. Then, heck man, you get a stupidly large, heavily seasoned steak for quite a reasonable price and they’ve got those really big steak knives and boomerangs and. Oh, that Outback. Um, yeah, the 2010 Subaru Outback doesn’t serve any food. It’s a station wagon. Of course, for the first time …

  1. the rack is lame and not for the outdoor enthusiest. I bought a 2010 outback and now unfortunately need to buy a 2nd vehical so I can take my familly of 4 kayaking. This new cheesy rack can only carry 2 kayaks and can not accomodate any aftermarket roof racks like its predisesor and most other crossovers or suvs

  2. when you use words like “whant,” and “whell”, you sound like a complete moron

  3. Truth spoken.

  4. The legacy kinda looks like a Mazda 6 but not really….

  5. Subaru will always go offroad,if you will dare!
Subaru rules in tarmak and offroad, what EVER YOU WHANT. Fuck all the rest, 4 whell drive is what subaru is,and most quality that a car can bring!!

  6. Yeah it is! I read it online. I’m pretty excited for it to get here. I’ve been thinking about getting a Jetta TDI for gas mileage but I would like to keep AWD. So now I can get both for Subaru in a year or so! It will be so nice!

  7. Diesel boxer is coming to North America??!! It’s about dam time!

  8. The Outback isn’t intended to be a crossover. It is just a station wagon.. And I never thought it was a Legacy with body cladding. Outbacks have always sat higher than a Legacy in my opinion. I don’t really like that new Legacy very much. I think I like the 2005-2009 better than this one. I am excited for the Diesel boxer engine to make there way here in mid 2010 though!

My 2000 Legacy “station wagon” has the Subaru All-wheel drive system. Outbacks have always been a Legacy wagon with more body cladding, more add-ons and larger wheels for those in mountainous country. If it looks like a wagon, it’s a wagon no matter how many wheel drive.

  10. What a crock. The station wagon has 2wd where the crossover is a 4wd that kicks in when there is loss of traction. Ask anyone who lives in mountainous crountry and they will tell you the same. The outback IS a crossover. Plain and simple.

The Outback is not a “Crossover”! It’s a wagon! It’s a station wagon! OK?!!! Edmunds Reporter: Was “Crossover” the propaganda word you were told to say out of fear of reprisal?

  12. yeah and soooo many of these cars never will go off road.

  13. u need small tires for offroad

  14. rather small tires

  15. and the outback was a surprise too–this looks even worse in pics because wagon forms of sedans often come off wrong…but again i think subaru got it right. people wanted more room, and they got it in a pretty sleek package. i actually think the proportions are more correct with the 2010 as opposed to the outgoing model, because the latter was too narrow-looking for how high it stood off the ground, making it look unstable. the 2010 looks like a wagon. can’t wait to see how it feels to drive

  16. MariusZ270570 and hkyktms are on to something–Subaru’s don’t photograph well, you’ve gotta see them in person. When I first saw pics of the 2009 Forester, I was like, this looks like a jacked-up impreza. But when I saw it in person I fell in love. Ditto for the 2010 Legacy–when i first saw pics in march, i thought it looked bloated, but when i saw it in person at NY auto show, I was floored–it still looked ‘just right’ which is what a subie is all about. crisp, with a touch of style.

  17. thats the uglyest legacy they have made, i hope the japanese market models have something to make them look better. First time subarus shot themselves in the foot on styling on a legacy. thought they would of learnt after doing it twice on the impreza

  18. I’m gonna play the devil’s advocate here, I drive a 2nd gen and while yes, I thought the newer versions looked a lot better this latest showing is like a rebadged ford or chevy or something, it looks terrible, the sides are blocky, the wheel wells are blocky, the interior took a couple steps back in progress….my vote…no.

  19. I love it! Is it out yet? If not when does it come out?

  20. not optioning the sweet new diesel in the states is an odd choice, but both the CVT and the 6-speed are exciting. would have liked either in my 09 xt.

  21. What happened to the 2.0L 200HP engine that was supposed to replace the 2.5? Subaru forums have been talking about this new engine for years. Did it just disappear

  22. I really respect that brend gentlemen, new Outback is awesome!

  23. 6 speed auto transmission would have been nice.
